Physicians & staff to present at upcoming ASLMS conference
Mar. 28, 2012The physicians and staff of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York will be giving 17 presentations at the upcoming American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery meeting April 18-22, 2012 in Kissimmee, Florida. This is the largest number of presentations by any one practice or laser center. These presentations will include 6 recent clinical studies on new technologies and techniques that were evaluated at our center.

Dr. Roy Geronemus presenting at the American Academy of Dermatology
Mar. 15, 2012Roy G. Geronemus, M.D. will be presenting at the annual American Academy of Dermatology meeting in San Diego, California this weekend. His topics include "Maximizing Results with Fractional Lasers" and "Clinical Pearls in the Treatment of Vascular Lesions." He will also be preseniting on the new picosecond laser for the rapid removal of blue and green tattoos before a select group of professors.

Fraxel Dual for the Treatment of Actinic Keratosis (AK)
Nov. 23, 2011A recent clinical trial conducted at our office shows the Fraxel Dual laser to be an effective treatment for actinic keratosis (AK).
"'Using this technique, we have had an 85 percent success rate at six months, which is very encouraging and superior to anything else that has been published, including trials with topical imiquimod, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), diclofenac and other treatment approaches,' Dr. Geronemus says."

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association (ASDSA) has awarded Dr. Roy G. Geronemus with the 2011 Physician Patient Safety Hero Award. This award is presented annually to recognize the leadership of an ASDS member in promoting patient safety for cosmetic medical procedures. Dr. Geronemus works diligently to promote awareness and enact legislation to limit the performance of cosmetic medical laser procedures to only qualified physicians.
Cutera Receives Health Canada Approval for Excel V Laser System
Oct. 7, 2011Cutera's Excel V laser has recieved Health Canada approval for the treatment of vascular abnormalities, redness & veins.

Oct. 7, 2011"Dr. Roy G. Geronemus, director of the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York and a clinical professor of dermatology at New York University Medical Center, said: 'There are a wide spectrum of O.T.C. devices including lasers, light sources, Intense Pulsed Light sources, radio frequency and sonic cleansing devices. Some of the devices are valuable, and others are worthless.'"

Roy G. Geronemus, M.D., was performing surgical procedures in his New York City dermatology office about three or four miles from the World Trade Center when the terrorist attacks of 9/11 occurred.
"We had ... panic among the patients — particularly those who had family and friends" in the area, he says. "I remember doing Mohs surgery on a patient whose child was in a school next door to the World Trade Center. There he was with a large wound and, essentially, out of contact with his child."
