Filler Treatment Options

Juvederm and Juvederm XC

Juvederm is a filler made from hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar which binds to water and gives the skin a natural plumpness. Juvederm Ultra can be used to correct moderate wrinkles on the face and can be used to add fullness to the lips. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a denser formulation which can be used to improve the appearance of deeper wrinkles. Juvederm is injected underneath the skin to improve fine lines, hollows and creases. Topical anesthetics may be applied to the treated area prior to injection to minimize discomfort.

Juvederm XC contains an anesthetic in the syringe which minimizes discomfort and often allows the procedure to be performed without having to apply a topical anesthetic.

How is Juvederm treatment performed?

Juvederm is injected underneath the skin to improve fine lines, hollows and creases. Topical anesthetics may be applied to the treated area prior to injection to minimize discomfort.

Is allergy testing necessary prior to Juvederm treatment?

Since Juvederm contains no animal products, allergy testing is not necessary before Juvederm treatment.

What are the potential side effects of Juvederm treatment?

Juvederm can cause redness or swelling for 1-2 days after treatment. Juvederm injections into the skin can also result in bruising which can take up to a week to resolve.

When will I see results?

Juvederm treatment gives immediate results.

How long will the results last?

Juvederm lasts approximately 4 to 9 months. Its formulation is supposed to make it last longer than other hyaluronic acid products but this has yet to be widely confirmed.
