Filler Treatment Options

Restylane® and Perlane®

Restylane and Perlane are fillers made from hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar which binds to water and gives the skin a natural plumpness. Restylane can be used to improve creases in the lower face and under the eyes. It can also be used to improve lip lines or enhance lip fullness. Perlane is a more robust form of hyaluronic acid which can be used for cheek enhancement and for deeper folds and wrinkles.

Restylane L and Perlane L contain an anesthetic in the syringe which minimizes discomfort and often allows the procedure to be performed without having to apply a topical anesthetic.

How is Restylane treatment performed?

Restylane is injected underneath the skin to improve fine lines, hollows and creases. Topical anesthetics may be applied to the treated area prior to injection to minimize discomfort.

Is allergy testing necessary prior to Restylane treatment?

Since Restylane contains no animal products, allergy testing is not necessary before Restylane treatment.

What are the potential side effects of Restylane treatment?

Restylane can cause redness or swelling for 1-2 days after treatment. Restylane injections into the skin can also result in bruising which can take up to a week to resolve.

When will I see results?

Restylane treatment gives immediate results.

How long will the results last?

Restylane lasts in the lips approximately 3-6 months and elsewhere 6 to 9 months.
