"The recent article 'Lack of training can be deadly in cosmetic surgery' by Jayne O'Donnell gave inaccurate information by emphasizing plastic surgeons as the only qualified providers of cosmetic surgery. This is simply not the case and does a grave disservice to consumers. Her article neglected to include the fact that dermatologic surgeons are physicians who also receive training in a variety of cosmetic surgical procedures, such as liposuction, during their residencies and are therefore a safe and expert choice for consumers seeking cosmetic procedures..."

2/1/2010   A major advancement in the treatment of surgical and traumatic scars utilizing the Fraxel Repair laser was reported in the study titled "Successful Treatment of Atrophic Postoperative and Traumatic Scarring With Carbon Dioxide Ablative Fractional Resurfacing: Quantitative Volumetric Scar Improvement".  Arch Dermatol, Feb 2010; 146: 133 - 140.
 
The study has led to a significantly improved outcome in the appearance of a variety of scars. A simple but extraordinarily effective treatment of a common condition---bruising-- was described in "A Simple Solution to the Common Problem of Ecchymosis".  Arch Dermatol, Jan 2010; 146: 94 - 95.  This treatment can be used for bruises from fillers, botox, surgery or traumatic injury. The treatment is quite simple with a very quick response with improvement notes within hours.
