Most people have some type of skin mark, like freckles or moles, which can change over time when exposed to sunlight and UV rays. Most of these marks are benign, meaning non-cancerous, but there are some that could develop into skin cancer or melanoma.
Epidermal nevus is a lesion that is usually present at birth. It can sometimes take a linear or swirled pattern on the skin. Epidermal nevi can be lightened by using the Q-switched Alexandrite Nd:YAG and ruby lasers. They can also be removed with CO2 laser. Several treatments are usually required to effectively treat this condition.
Syringomas (often found around the eyes) can be improved dramatically with the Erbium and carbon dioxide lasers. While these laser treatments are not a cure for this condition, many patients are quite pleased with the results as significant improvement can be obtained. Typically, local anesthesia is required, and multiple treatment sessions are necessary to obtain the maximum benefit of this type of treatment.
Xanthelasma is a condition in which cholesterol deposits form around the upper and lower eyelids and look like flat, yellow plaques. These do not indicate that the patient has high cholesterol and is generally of a cosmetic concern. Erbium and carbon dioxide lasers can be used to improve these cholesterol deposits. Generally, 1-2 weeks of healing is required after each laser treatment, and multiple treatments are usually necessary.

Wrinkles are a common and unwanted sign of aging. As you age, your body produces less collagen, creating saggy and wrinkly looking skin. Our customized strategies to combat wrinkles include laser resurfacing, dermal fillers, and wrinkle relaxers.
