Juvederm Volbella
Juvederm Volbella is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler used to augment the lips and smooth away perioral lines above the upper lip. The filler is injected into the dermal layers to add subtle volume and reduce signs of aging around the mouth.

Our board-certified dermatologists are proud to offer an extensive collection of fillers near your in New York City.
How does Juvederm Volbella Work?
Juvederm Volbella works into the lips and dermal layers to add fullness to the lips and smooth away fine lines. The ultra-smooth consistency of Volbella gives it the ability to add volume without looking overdone. Juvederm Volbella effectively reverses some signs of aging while plumping thinning lips to refresh and rejuvenate the appearance.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body. It helps the dermal structure to retain moisture and volume. When hyaluronic acid is placed into the dermal structure, it produces smooth, natural skin rejuvenation from the inside out.

Do Juvederm Volbella Injections Hurt?
Juvederm Volbella injections are administered using a very fine needle or blunt-tipped cannula to reduce pain during treatment. The filler formulation also contains lidocaine, a numbing medication designed to increase patient comfort as injections are made into the sensitive area of the lips.
When Will I See Results?
You will see additional fullness in your lips and improvement in your perioral lines immediately following your treatment. There may be some mild swelling or bruising around the injection sites that will interfere with your final result. This is particularly true when injections are placed in the delicate area of the lips. But once the skin heals fully, which usually only takes a day or two, the full results become apparent and will last for up to one year.
How Long is the Recovery Time After Treatment?
After treatment, you should be able to resume your normal activities. There is minimal downtime and your dermatologist may give you specific aftercare instructions. Sometimes a bruise occurs because of the needle’s contact with the skin, so plan accordingly with your personal and professional obligations. Our doctors perform laser and topical treatments to minimize this side effect after your procedure.

Do Men Receive Juvederm Volbella?
Yes. Juvederm Volbella and other dermal fillers are a popular treatment among men and we treat male patients routinely at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, nearly 62,000 men received hyaluronic acid fillers in the US in 2018.
Men often have different goals when they come in for dermal fillers. The difference in skin texture and thickness also needs to be taken into account when treating men. Our dermatologists have the expertise and experience to ensure both male and female patients achieve results that look natural while improving the appearance. Questions and Answers
Q: Is Juvederm Volbella Safe?
A: The FDA approved Juvederm Volbella in 2016 as a safe and effective treatment for adding volume to the lip and treating perioral lines. In 2018, more than 2.5 million people had treatments using soft tissue fillers, including Juvederm. The filler has a long track record of safety and success in the US.
Q: How Long Do Results Last?
A: You will see immediate improvement after your Juvederm Volbella injections. Those results will last up to 1 year, depending on the treatment area and how quickly your body absorbs the hyaluronic acid. You can maintain your refreshed appearance indefinitely with regularly scheduled treatment sessions.
Q: What Does Juvederm Volbella Treat?
A: Juvederm Volbella has a smooth, silky consistency that is designed for adding subtle volume to lips that are disproportionate to other facial features or have lost volume over time. The filler is also appropriate for use above the upper lip to smooth away fine vertical lines known as perioral lines, smoker lines, or lipstick lines.
Q: Are There Any Side Effects?
A: Side effects from dermal fillers like Juvederm Volbella are temporary if they do occur. Some patients might experience slight redness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites, which typically subsides within a day or two. Keep in mind the lips are more prone to swelling and bruising than other treatment areas, so give yourself a few days to heal before any large social or professional events.
Q: Will My Face Look And Feel Unnatural?
A: When treated by a licensed and trained injector who has expertise in facial anatomy like the board-certified cosmetic dermatologists at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York, you can expect natural results that are not obvious to everyone around you. Because Juvederm Volbella contains hyaluronic acid, which is found in the body as well, your filler will integrate into your lip tissue to create subtle improvement. You’ll still look like you, just younger and more refreshed.
Q: Is Juvederm Volbella Right for Me?
A: Juvederm Volbella is typically recommended to our patients that are unhappy with the shape or fullness of their lips. It is also appropriate for patients that have developed perioral lines that make them feel self-conscious about their appearance. The filler is safe and effective for all skin types and tones. We encourage you to schedule a consultation in our office to find out if Juvederm is the right choice for you.
