Restylane Lyft is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler used for volume restoration and facial contouring in the cheeks and midface. It is also used to restore youthful volume to the backs of the hands to minimize the appearance of protruding veins and wrinkles. The filler is injected into the dermal layers to restore volume and reduce signs of aging.
All of our physicians at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York® have extensive experience with fillers and injectables, including the Restylane line. Our physicians performed several trials for the use and development of these fillers and injectables in our clinical research department. We are leaders in the field of cosmetic dermatology and the largest users of fillers and injectables in the world.
How does Restylane Lyft Work?
Restylane Lyft works deep into the dermal layers to restore support lost due to collagen depletion. Collagen is a protein found in the dermal structure that gives the skin its smooth, supple appearance. Over time, our bodies produce less collagen, leading to skin laxity and wrinkle formation. By restoring that support, Restylane Lyft restores fullness to the midface and hands to create a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body. It helps the dermal structure to retain moisture and volume. When hyaluronic acid is placed into the dermal structure, it produces smooth, natural-looking skin rejuvenation from the inside out.

Do Restylane Lyft Injections Hurt?
Restylane Lyft is administered using a very fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, depending on the treatment area and the amount of filler needed. Most filler patients near New York City find the procedure to be quick and relatively comfortable. If you are concerned about discomfort during treatment, talk to your doctor about the application of a topical numbing cream before your procedure begins.
When Will I See Results?
You will see improvement in your facial contours or the appearance of your hands immediately following your treatment. There may be some mild swelling or bruising around the injection sites that will interfere with your final result. But once the skin heals fully, which usually only takes a day or two, the full results become apparent and will last for 6-9 months in most patients.
How Long is the Recovery Time After Treatment?
After treatment, you should be able to resume your normal activities. There is minimal downtime and your dermatologist may give you specific aftercare instructions. Sometimes a bruise occurs because of the needle’s contact with the skin, so plan accordingly with your personal and professional obligations. We can also provide you with laser or topical treatments to minimize bruising after your procedure.

Do Men Get Restylane Lyft Treatments?
Yes. Restylane Lyft and other dermal fillers are a popular treatment among men and we treat male patients routinely at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, nearly 62,000 men received hyaluronic acid fillers in the US in 2018.
Men often have different goals when they come in for dermal fillers. The difference in skin texture and thickness also needs to be taken into account when treating men. Our dermatologists have the expertise and experience to ensure both male and female patients achieve results that look natural while improving their appearance.
Questions and Answers
Q: Is Restylane Lyft Safe?
A: The FDA approved Restylane Lyft in 2018 as a safe and effective treatment for restoring volume to the midface and hands. In 2018, more than 2.5 million people had treatments using soft tissue fillers, including Restylane. The filler has a long track record of safety and success in the US.
Q: How Long Do Results Last?
A: You will see immediate improvement after your Restylane Lyft injections. Those results will last from 6-9 months, depending on the treatment area and how quickly your body absorbs the hyaluronic acid. You can maintain your refreshed appearance indefinitely with regularly scheduled treatment sessions.
Q: What Does Restylane Lyft Treat?
A: The most common reason to undergo Restylane Lyft treatment is to restore volume to the midface or to the backs of the hands. By adding filler in midface, we can increase fullness, improve definition, and even reduce early jowl formation along the jawline with some subtle lift. In the hands, Restylane Lyft reduces the appearance of prominent veins and wrinkles for a smoother more youthful appearance.
Q: Are There Any Side Effects?
A: Side effects from dermal fillers like Restylane Lyft are uncommon and temporary if they do occur. Some patients might experience slight redness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites, which typically subsides within a day or two.
Q: Will My Face Look And Feel Unnatural?
A: When treated by a licensed and trained injector who has expertise in facial anatomy, like the board-certified cosmetic dermatologists at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York, you can expect natural results that are not obvious to everyone around you. Because Restylane Lyft contains hyaluronic acid, which is found in the body as well, your filler will integrate into your dermal tissue to create subtle improvement. You’ll still look like you, but with a more youthful facial contour or smoother, younger hands.
Q: Is Restylane Lyft Right for Me?
A: Restylane Lyft is typically recommended to our patients that have lost youthful volume and definition around the cheeks and midface, or are seeing signs of aging in the hands. The filler is safe and effective for all skin types and tones. For information on filler prices, results, and more, we encourage you to schedule a consultation in our office to find out if Restylane Lyft is the right choice for you.
