Gentlemax and gentlemax pro

The GentleMax™ and GentleMax PRO™ from Candela combines a fast and powerful 755nm Alexandrite laser with an equally powerful 1064nm nd:YAG to safely and effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types.

The board-certified physicians at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York have an extensive range of laser devices that allow us to customize all our patient’s treatments to ensure an optimal outcome. We have the experience and expertise to help you meet all your aesthetic goals with comfortable treatments and minimal downtime in most cases. Our team would be happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns and create a personalized treatment plan to keep you looking and feeling your absolute best.

How do GentleMax and GentleMax Pro Work?

During your GentleMax treatment, beams of light energy are directed into the hair follicles. The laser damages the follicle so current hair sheds and future hairs have difficulty growing. The procedure leaves the surrounding skin and tissue untouched, ensuring a comfortable treatment process with no downtime afterward.

Because hair grows in phases, you will require multiple treatment sessions to achieve an optimal outcome. The laser targets hair in the growth phase with each session. You will see a gradual reduction in hair, leaving you with smoother skin and long-lasting results.

What do Gentlemax and gentlemax pro treat?

The physicians at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York primarily use these devices to remove unwanted hair from the following areas:

  • Neck and chin
  • Underarms and forearms
  • Back and chest
  • Legs
  • Bikini line

In addition, these devices are sometimes used for other purposes, such as to remove visible veins and age spots.

When Will I See Results?

You will require a series of treatment sessions to address all the hair follicles when they are in the growth phase of the hair cycle. Once your final treatment is completed, you should see your final outcome within a couple of weeks.

How Long is the Recovery Time After Treatment?

Laser hair removal is a gentle treatment that has few side effects and no downtime required. You might notice some slight swelling and redness after your procedure, but those symptoms typically subside within a few hours.

Questions and Answers

Q: Is the GentleMax Laser Safe?

A: Yes. The FDA approved the GentleMax laser system for hair reduction in 2013. In 2018, more than one million people underwent laser hair removal using devices like the GentleMax and GentleMax Pro, demonstrating a track record of safety and efficacy. Our board-certified physicians have extensive experience using this device and will use their expertise to customize your treatment so it is as safe and effective as possible.

Q: How Many Treatments Will I Need?

A: Laser hair removal requires a series of treatment sessions to ensure all follicles in the treatment area are targeted while they are in the growth phase of the hair cycle. Most of our patients achieve an optimal outcome after 4-6 treatment sessions.

Q: How Long Do Results Last?

A: Most patients enjoy long-lasting hair reduction once their series of treatments is completed. You may find a touch-up session every year or two that will help to keep your skin silky smooth indefinitely.

Q: Are There Any Side Effects?

A: Side effects after a GentleMax treatment are both mild and temporary. Some patients will experience slight redness and swelling for a few hours after their procedure, which will not be severe enough to keep them from any of their regular activities.

Q: Am I A Good Candidate For GentleMax Laser Hair Removal Treatments?

A: This procedure is appropriate for both men and women of all skin types who have unwanted facial or body hair they would like to eliminate on a more permanent basis. Patients that suffer from razor burn, ingrown hairs, or folliculitis will likely find laser hair removal clears up these concerns as well.
