The Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York has participated in the development of this 595nm wavelength laser with the Candela Corporation for the treatment of facial blood vessels, port wine birthmarks, and hemangiomas. There is also the potential for increased improvement in the birthmark treatment as a result of the new parameters available with this laser. Dr. Geronemus has presented one of the first papers on the Vbeam at the annual American Academy of Dermatology meeting in San Francisco in March of 2000.

How does the Vbeam Perfecta Work?
This pulsed-dye laser offers a dramatic improvement in the treatment of blood vessels with the ability to target the blood inside the vein without affecting the surrounding skin and tissue. Post-treatment bruising and crusting are uncommon after this treatment, making the device particularly safe for treating vascular concerns.
The benefit of this laser in the treatment of port-wine birthmarks and hemangiomas has also been demonstrated with less post-treatment darkening. The Vbeam utilizes the dynamic cooling spray which helps minimize discomfort and has been very well accepted by our patients. There is no downtime after the procedure, making it easy to work a Vbeam procedure into your daily schedule. To learn more about treating facial veins, visit our online webinar
